BC, Canada- Traveling extensively with family in early years was the foundation for my educational pursuits in history, anthropology and fine art. In 1996, I graduated from the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design with a Bachelor of Fine Art degree specializing in sculpture, particularly the subtractive process of stone carving. My creative interests drew me twice to Pietrasanta, Italy and then to Iqualuit, Nunavut, where I lived and worked with sculptors from around the world, gaining insight into the age old techniques of stone carving. With the development of my professional portfolio over the past 10 years, I have completed numerous public, corporate and private commissions. Working both representational and non-representational over the years, I initially was motivated to carve sculptural forms which captivated my diverse interests. More recently, I have become focused on interpreting past civilizations and their legacy, and how they inform contemporary life. As well, I have facilitated stone carving workshops from my studio for those wishing to explore this enriching artform. In 2005, I relocated to Vancouver, British Columbia, where I continue with my interest in the fine art of stone carving. Click here for information on: How to Commission a Stone Sculpture.
